Love and family fine after house destroyed in fire
Davis Love III and his family were unhurt after it was revealed his house burnt down in a fire on Friday.
The 55-year-old, who skippered the US Ryder Cup team to glory at Hazeltine in 2016 after being the losing captain at Medinah four years earlier, has long made his home on St Simons, Georgia, close to the venue for the RSM Classic.
Fire crews were called to his residence at 5am on Friday morning but were unable to contain the blaze and the house was destroyed.
An investigation is under way and reports claim the fire began in the garage, but the winner of 21 PGA Tour titles was just grateful that nobody got hurt.
"While everyone in our family is saddened at the loss of our home that was filled with so much laughter and incredible memories, we're very blessed that everyone is safe and unharmed," he said.
"We're very thankful to the first responders who made a valiant effort to save our home, and we're keeping things in perspective as people across our community and around the world are struggling with the current unprecedented health crisis."
