Molinari ready for Sheshan return

14th September 2018, 13:36 by Craig Smithson

Francesco Molinari and Rory McIlroy are the latest big names to confirm their place at next month's WGC-HSBC Champions in China.

Italian Molinari, who won the Open Championship in July, and four-time major winner McIlroy will join US Open and US PGA Champion Brooks Koepka and Masters Tournament winner Patrick Reed in the event, which will take place at Sheshan International Golf Club, Shanghai, between October 25-28.

Former winner Molinari told the European Tour website: "Playing in Shanghai is very important to me. It was such a huge moment in my career when I won there in 2010.

"It gave me the confidence to know that I can deliver on the big occasions against the world’s best fields when I get myself in contention. It is amazing to be returning to Sheshan, not only as a past champion which always feels good, but also as the reigning Open Champion."

Meanwhile, the new world number one Justin Rose has also confirmed his place as he looks to retain his title from last year with the prize fund now standing at US $10 million.
