One shot Doha lead for Wilson

9th March 2019, 13:53 by Neil Foster

Oliver Wilson carded a three-under-par 69 on Saturday to take a one-shot lead into the final round of the Qatar Masters.

The Englishman was one stroke off the pace at the halfway stage but is now staring down at the rest of the field after mixing four birdies with one bogey in Doha.

Having lost his Tour card at the end of last season, the 38-year-old had to come through qualifying to make the event but is now just 18 holes away from adding a second European Tour title to his 2014 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship success.

Four players are waiting to pounce on -9, however, with Australian Nick Cullen, Nacho Elvira of Spain, France's Mike Lorenzo-Vera and South African Erik van Rooyen all well in contention, while five shots cover the top 31 players in the field.

South African duo George Coetzee and Justin Harding, who shared the 36-hole lead with Lorenzo-Vera, both slipped to -7 after carding rounds of 73.
