Wood raring to go
Chris Wood is looking forward to finally getting his season under way when he takes his place in the Oman Open.
It is more than three months since the Bristolian played a round of professional golf, with his last appearance not the happiest as he finished last at November’s DP World Tour Championship where he was hampered by a neck injury.
His extended break has been to get that injury right and it also coincided with the birth of his second child.
Now though he is ready to get going again in Oman where he was runner up 12 months ago.
"It was always the plan to start the season here," Wood told Sky. "I missed the first part of the Desert Swing so I've been doing a lot of practice at home, but Bristol isn't the same as the Middle East in January or February.
"There will be a bit of rust, but I've had a lot of good practice. I was in Dubai last week preparing, but you never know until you have a card in your hand.
"This is a little bit different to playing a Turkey Trot in winter at your home club with five layers on; it's about being competitive and testing yourself."
