BTO Value Selection

29th January 2020, 12:18 by Phill Anderson

With Hereford already a victim to the weather, just two meetings take place on Wednesday and we have a selection from the Flat card at Kempton.

Air Of York is marginally better on all-weather than he is on turf and there’s plenty to like about his claims at double figure odds at Kempton this evening.

The eight-year-old returns 8lb below his last winning handicap mark, a success at Salisbury at the start of last season and while that came over a strongly run six furlongs, seven furlongs is probably more his trip these days.

There were signs of a return to form at Wolverhampton last time when fourth of 11 and he probably would have finished plenty closer if he hadn’t have been hampered by a loose horse at five furlongs out, probably costing him a couple of lengths.

The BTO top-rated selection has been dropped 2lb by the handicapper for that effort and given that there’s plenty of pace in the race for the hold-up performer to aim at, he makes each-way appeal at around the 12/1 mark.
