The son of US sire Thousand Words has raced 62 times in total with 11 wins accruing, three at Wolverhampton and he won the equivalent of this last year off a mark of 73 and is a pound lighter today. The gelding disappointed at Southwell three weeks ago but was without any form of headgear and is re-equipped with a visor today, the first time at this course since last year’s win. Catching experienced all-weather handicappers right is a tricky business but the horse is top rated on BTO regular and speed figures and gets three nice positives, including a 17% for trainer Candlish’s form in the last fortnight. ARABIC CULTURE is next best on stats and ratings, whilst REDEMPTORIST and SINGING SHERIFF both have good recent form and at four years of age are the youngest in the field and open to improvement. At SkyBet and BetVictor's 10/1, Star Ascending can rise to the occasion.
