Course Winner Set To Strike Again At Newcastle
Three-Year-old German Named Favourite To Manage A Win For Brittain
The relatively short trip from North Yorkshire to Newcastle is becoming a regular habit for the Antony Brittain trained KLOPP, and after an introduction to racing last season when he was last of eight, he has raced four times here as a three-year-old and produced figures of 1,6,1 and 2. All his wins have been over five furlongs but his attempt at today's longer distance hardly suggested a problem as he broke slowly and then kept on really well to be beaten in a photo by previous Wolverhampton winner Solar Park. Another last-time-out victor, Edgewood, was a head back in third. Trainer Brittain is equally in good form with three wins and six places from his last 14 runners. The son of sprint sire Monsieur Bond is top on BTO regular and speed ratings and is best in half of the twelve criteria. The rest of the field all have one or more negatives but GEOGRAPHY TEACHER is a clear second best and can find his way to a place. The easily found 7/4 about Klopp looks fair.
Over at Sandown, FENLONS COURT could have looked a good thing if the ground had been good, but even on the soft, Unibet's 16/1 definitely looks worth an each-way punt in the last.
