Course Winner Set To Strike Again Over Longer Trip

25th January 2019, 09:49 by Gerard Lees

Carroll Hurdler Tuned Up For Repeat Win

Worcestershire trainer Tony Carroll had a winner in Temur Khan at Southwell yesterday and attempts another with last-time-out scorer BLACK BUBLE in the Pertemps Commercial Handicap Hurdle this afternoon. The horse won here over a furlong shorter a fortnight ago and is up five pounds as a result, but James Nixon takes off seven and the last five times Carroll has put him up has seen the figures 4, 1, PU, 1 and 7 - so it's a definite plus. In addition, the gelding won quite comfortably from It's O Kay, winner of two of his previous four races and Zamoyski, victorious in his previous three. Black Buble, who is a bay, is top on BTOPlus+ ratings and gets a half dozen positives, including Carroll's liking for Huntingdon, where his win ratio is 55% better than expected. The gelding's pilot in that last victory, Jonjo O'Neill Jr, is claimed by his father for second favourite EY UP ROCKY, who is up 4 lbs for a couple of runner-up placings. HERE'S HERBIE, who is 25/1 with the layers has a lot of positives in his favour and won at Taunton last time out. Black Buble is 7/1 with the likes of Bet365 but is being backed.
