Gregorian Girl bids to close the show in style at Nottingham
Quick returner has her conditions again and could be too good for this evening's rivals.
It is just possible that GREGORIAN GIRL is turning into a professional runner-up after two seconds at Kempton and Newmarket, but her form looks so far in front of this field that a win looks on the cards in the last at Nottingham tonight.
The application of headgear for the first time can only help and she ran well enough on soft ground at Newbury in June. Her latest race was just last Friday in a Class 5 at Newmarket and she looked the winner until hanging right in the last 200 yards and going down by half a length to Lordsbridge Boy.
In truth, it wasn't a great race for one at Headquarters with very few of the contestants having any winning recent form, but her placing in it still augurs well for today's contest, with ABSOLUTE DREAM being the only horse to have won in its last four outings. She goes off the same mark of 61 this evening and the newly fitted cheekpieces can keep her straight.
Trainer Dean Ivory has a good record at Nottingham with a nine winners from 48 runners, most notably he's had four winners and five placed horses from his last 18 runners.
EDGEWOOD is top rated on Before The Off ratings and his trainer Paul Midgley has had three winners from his last 19 runners. However, he looks set to bump into one too good in the shape of Gregorian Girl.
