Havlin Mount To Rule At Chelmsford

10th January 2019, 12:37 by Gerard Lees

Three-Year-Old Winner Set To Show More Improvement

The John Gosden trained NEW KING is one of two winners in the novice event at Chelmsford this evening and, unless there is a really outstanding newcomer, he looks like adding to that record with another victory.

His win came at Wolverhampton a month ago when, after breaking slowly and being held up, he came with a rattle at the end to win going away.

Tonight's event is over an extra furlong and a half and significantly BTO stats show that the progeny of his sire, Frankel, are eight from 23 at the Essex track with a remarkable 11 from 24 at the distance. A look at the course and distance stats combined show a 100% four from four.

He is top rated from HAMMY END with the other previous winner THEMAXWECAN getting three negatives as well as showing an absence of 101 days.

Newcomer KINVER EDGE makes plenty of appeal on paper for a yard that can produce a winner first time out and PATH TO THE STARS gets nine BTO positives but New King can lord it over these this evening.
