Johnston Three-Year-Old Ready To Dig Deep
The Middleham trainer has a fascinating three-year-old at Kempton this evening.
Liverpool born jockey Franny Norton had a profitable summer and is carrying on in his usual way, rarely failing to get a horse home that should win on merit and operating at a 14% win rate; he rides DEEP INTRIGUE for Mark Johnston in the 32Red Conditions Stakes at Kempton, an event with four last-time out winners in it.
However Deep Intrigue has the greatest potential and the son of Dark Angel colt improved with racing in his first season, starting with two placed efforts before beating Coventry Stakes fourth Vange at Beverley last May. He then had a break of over six months, reappearing in a three-runner contest at Chelmsford last month.
He looked an improved performer, making most and staying on well to beat easy Kempton winner Top Breeze by a comfortable length and a quarter on his first attempt at six furlongs and the all-weather. Top on speed ratings he gets five positives and will probably try to make all. JAMES STREET is best on BTO ratings and YOU NEVER CAN TELL has the formidable all-weather king Adam Kirby on board, but SkyBet's 10/3 about Deep Intrigue can simplify matters.
