Keniry To Pilot This One Home At Lingfield
Quick Returner To Sail Away From Rivals In Handicap
The Brian Meehan trained TAKE THE HELM returned after an eight month break to run third, beaten under three lengths to Salateen at Lingfield last weekend and that augurs well for his attempt to win the Sun Racing Handicap today. He has raced 28 times in total with five of these returning him as winner, all on the all-weather. He gets a mile and his last run was at that distance but again, all his wins have been at seven furlongs, the distance of today's race. He is actually rated second on BTOPlus+ figures behind KEYSER SOZE but that horse has two significant negatives. He was victorious last time out and his trainer, Richard Spencer, is just four from 40 with last-time-out winners. He is also just 6% when teaming up with Adam Kirby, despite the latter's all-weather proficiency. Take The Helm, on the other hand, gets nine positives, including his liking for Lingfield, as well as jockey Keniry's 24% better than expected return there. His quick return won't be a problem - he was beaten just a length last April carrying half a dozen pounds more after a victory six days before. He looks worth backing to beat the favourite, Keyser Soze.
