Lightly Raced Three-Year-Old Ready To Strike
Improving Hannon Colt The One In Handicap
The Rossa Ryan ridden HERMOCRATES runs his fifth race today and showed a step up in form a month ago when finishing second to Debbonair over a mile at Kempton.
The fourth horse, Lee Roy, has come out since and was beaten just a length, so there appears little wrong with the form. Prior to this, the son of Farrh had competed in three events and had been beaten a total of 48 lengths so further improvement tonight looks likely.
Hermocrates ran off 61 at Kempton and is up just 4 lbs this evening, an increase that looks well within his grasp. He is rated second on regular and speed ratings behind Hugo Palmer's FENJAL, but that horse has three negatives including the poor six from 109 win rate of the progeny of his sire, Kodiac over course and distance.
Hermocrates, on the other hand, gets ten positives. One is the contrasting performance of the sons and daughters of Farrh over Wolverhampton’s extended nine furlongs course and distance, which is a remarkable six from 12, 98% better than expected. VIN D'HONNEUR is rated highly and looks ready to have a good all-weather campaign but at the 7/2 offered by the likes of Coral and Ladbrokes on Hannon's colt, represents the value.
