Monalee to Confirm the Form in the RSA

13th March 2018, 20:48 by Phill Anderson

The two Irish runners at the head of the market looks set to fight it out in a fascinating renewal of this year's RSA

The Irish hold a strong hand in this with Presenting Percy and MONALEE both holding strong claims on what they have shown over fences so far. Pat Kelly’s charge is already a Festival winner having taken last year’s Pertemps Final and he’s already proved his versatility over fences running and winning over a variety of trips.

Monalee wasn’t far off the best of the staying hurdlers last year, finishing second in the Albert Bartlett and he’s shown the same ability over fences. He bounced back from a fall on his penultimate start when making all in the Grade 1 Flogas Chase last time.

The strong Irish contingent at the head of the market is completed by Dounikos who lost his unbeaten chase record behind Monalee last time but showed that he deserved to take his chance here having not been beaten far. The Bryony Frost/Black Corton partnership has been one of the stories of the jumps season as they have racked up wins at will although they will need to improve again to break the Irish domination here.
