Nicholls' Irish Recruit Set To Waltz Home

6th December 2018, 09:47 by Gerard Lees

Cobden Mount Primed For Successful Hurdles Debut

Taking even Cheltenham bumper form to a Wincanton hurdle might still prompt a doubt as to jumping ability but DANSE IDOL has shown the latter, as well as running prowess, with a point-to-point win at Boultra in Ireland. That was a year ago from 15 rivals, and she was then taken to Punchestown to contest a National Hunt Flat Race won by Relegate with 12 others behind. Relegate went on to win a Punchestown £40K affair before taking the Weatherbys Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham festival. That is top form. Transferred to Paul Nicholls, Danse Idol made her seasonal debut at Cheltenham last month over an extended two miles and was doing all her best work at the finish, so that, allied to her points win over three miles, suggest the step up in trip looks a good move for her hurdles bow. The daughter of Dansant is best on BTOPlus+ ratings and info' and gets seven nice positives, including her trainer's 32% over course and distance and the liking for the progeny od Dansant for going right-handed which is 40% better than expected. CEDAR VALLEY is next best on BTO ratings, BALLYBOUGH NORA gets a full 11 positives, and PRINTING DOLLARS is unbeaten after one win in a point and another in a bumper. Danse Idol looks a worthy favourite and is being backed but this race will undoubtably throw up some decent mares who will win in the future.
