Seasoned Campaigner Ready To Strike Again

28th February 2019, 11:28 by Gerard Lees

Lucinda Russell has been amongst the winners in recent weeks and sends an interesting runner to Musselburgh this afternoon.

There is a competitive small field handicap hurdle at Musselburgh today that may well produce a tight finish but one where SKY KHAN can come out on top.

He was a useful horse a couple of years ago, contesting races at Aintree, Cheltenham and Punchestown and today's affair is well within his grasp if things fall into place. He certainly seems at home on a right-handed track, having won twice at Market Rasen and the good ground at the Scottish course will suit as his wins have come on good to soft, good and good to firm twice.

He is dropped 1lb for a runner-up spot to Mahlervous in a Class 2 last time out and this is a weaker race, whilst Blair Campbell takes off 5lb in the saddle. ALWAYS LION was a beaten favourite when fourth to Elmono after a lengthy absence in a chase here last time out and is top on BTOPlus+ ratings but conditions are ideal for Lucinda Russell's veteran who is the one to beat.
