Splash Out On Last-Time-out Winner
Success Awaits Those Who Race With Verve At Wolverhampton
In his five year racing career, SPLASH OF VERVE has clearly not been easy to train and has managed just 29 races. He has interspersed some disappointing performances with three wins and a dozen placed efforts but County Durham trainer David Thompson, who has had him for just nine months, might well have got the key to him judging on his last performance.
The son of miler Fast Company, the gelding was put over an extended mile and a half at Newcastle three weeks ago, and, with apprentice Toby Eley on board, promptly dotted up from Hugoigo with a fair amount of authority. It wasn't a great race but he seemed to enjoy himself and the time, in context, was good.
Runner-up over an extended 1m1f at Wolverhampton on his previous outing, and raced just three times this term, all looks set for the gelding to go well over 1m4f this evening and record a follow up victory off a mark just 3lb above his Newcastle success.
He gets five BTO positives whereas and at 9/2 represents the value in the race.
