Quick Returner Has Conditions To Get Back On Winning Trail
The return to form of five-year-old KODILINE has reflected the recent successes of his Monmouthshire trainer David Evans, and, partnered by Oisin Murphy, he looks to get his head in front today for the first time since January. He ran at Beverley last week and after a series of "down the fields" was just beaten into a length second by Ollivander, a consistent type who had won two of his previous five races.
Kodiline ran off a mark of 64 in that event, the same as today, so is weighted to be there or thereabouts today. More significantly, he is down 7lbs from his last run on the all-weather and 13lbs down from that win at Lingfield six months ago. Evans had been going along quite nicely, with a win rate of about 13% in the last two months. The last fortnight has seen that improve to four winners from 19 runners and that’s encouraging for today’s prospects.
The best of the rest looks to be Conrad Allen's SONNET ROSE, who came back to form at Yarmouth in the first week in July when second to Magical Rose and confirmed her well-being and attitude when pipping Essential in a photo at the same course. She has won four times on an artificial surface but may run better at Yarmouth than anywhere else.
FANTASTIC FLYER is top on BTO ratings and looks to return to form in first-time cheekpieces while Grey Destiny's five wins here put him on the shortlist. He has been unplaced 17 times, though.
BetVictor and Bet365 have Kodiline at 10/3 and that looks worth a punt.
