Time To Drum Up Another Victory For Johnston Runner

22nd November 2018, 09:26 by Gerard Lees

Hat-Trick On Cards For Fanning Stayer

A filly in form can be a financially rewarding prospect for the punter and we have a contender today in the form of the Mark Johnston trained VICTORIA DRUMMOND. The daughter of Sea The Stars has raced four times in total and performed well on her second outing last winter when a three lengths fifth to Mercer's Troop at Kempton when seemingly unfancied at 25/1. She then had a lengthy break from the track until reappearing at Chelmsford at the end of October when, again unfancied according to her 14/1 price, she showed stamina and determination to get home from a Godolphin likely one in Forest View and previous winner Keltie. That was a good performance as she was originally up with the pace, then lost her position before being carried wide when just starting to make her challenge at the final bend, finally staying on to get her head in front close home. She then went to Southwell and on a surface that has wanted rain this Autumn and was described as Standard to Slow, she absolutely galloped her rivals into submission, getting home by 12 lengths from previous runner-up Maybe Today. She will eventually get two miles and might be better than she's shown so far but today's extra 6lbs doesn't look likely to stop her in her quest for a hat-trick. Top on BTOPlus+ regular figures, she gets seven positives, including Johnston's recent 40% better than expected recent form. GRAND INQUISITOR is a clear second best on ratings and third best STARGAZER is attracting money, but Victoria's 15/8 with Skybet and on the exchanges looks fair.
