Galway goal for Sole Pretender

11th July 2019, 14:08 by Gareth Freeman

Trainer Norman Lee believes Sole Pretender is a real contender going into next month's Galway Hurdle.

Sole Pretender has three wins in as many starts this season and Lee now his his sights set on the August 1 showpiece at the Galway Festival.

"Things are going grand - it's three and a half weeks until Galway and we'll have to get there in one piece. He'll go to the Curragh for a day away between now and then," he told the Racing Post.

"We've never had a winner at Galway, we were unlucky one year when we had a horse [Supreme Vic] finish second when she carried two pounds overweight.

"He was always a good horse and he's progressing nicely. We're delighted to have a horse for a race like the Galway Hurdle."
