Haggas reveals One Master hopes
William Haggas has revealed that One Master is being prepared to defend her Prix de la Foret title at ParisLongchamp in October.
The five-year-old claimed a surprise victory in the seven-furlong outing last year, and, while no follow-up win has been forthcoming since, One Master has put in some solid performances.
The daughter of Fastnet Rock finished fourth on her 2019 reappearance in a Group Two at the Curragh in May, before claiming third in the Queen Anne at Royal Ascot, was beaten by a neck by Veracious in the Falmouth at Newmarket and was fifth in the Prix Maurice de Gheest on her most previous outing.
And Haggas is hopeful that One Master can now retain her Prix de la Foret crown in the Group One contest on October 6.
He said: "She ran well (in France). I think she would have run better if the ground had been a bit softer.
"There's only one seven-furlong all-aged Group One in Europe and that is the Foret. There's the Prix Jean Prat now they've moved that back to seven furlongs, but it's for three-year-olds only.
"She won the Foret last year and will be going back, all being well, as seven furlongs is definitely her best trip. Hopefully she'll run before then, somewhere conditions are in her favour."
