Nielsen excited by Stradivarius' chances

9th October 2019, 18:22 by Tom Hill

Owner Bjorn Nielsen says Stradivarius is primed and ready as he looks to end the season unbeaten with victory at Ascot next weekend.

The five-year-old will head to Qipco British Champions Day with five wins from five outings this season.

Stradivarius is now on a 10-race winning streak, and connections hope to maintain that run going into next season with retirement not on Nielsen's radar.

He has already won at York on two occasions, while victories at Ascot, Goodwood and Doncaster have taken his tally to 14 wins in 19 attempts.

When asked about his plans for Ascot, Nielsen told reporters: "John tells me that Stradivarius is full of himself and ready to go.

"I know people were surprised to see him run at Doncaster, but it would never have been eight weeks between races had he not done so. Last year it would have been too much for him because he was tired after a flat run in the Lonsdale, but this year John said he was so full of himself that he needed to have another run."
