Options open for Positive

11th September 2019, 11:09 by Dan McCarthy

Trainer Clive Cox says there are plenty of options available at Newmarket for Positive at both Group One and Two level.

The two-year-old was triumphant in the Solario Stakes at Sandown at the end of last month after pipping Andrew Balding's Kameko by a nose and his record now stands at two wins from three races.

He won on his course debut at Salisbury and finished second in the Group Two Vintage Stakes at Goodwood just behind Pinatubo.

The son of Dutch Art is now under consideration for multiple races, with the Juddmonte Royal Lodge Stakes and Darley Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket both likely options.

However, Cox says he is in no rush to determine his future just yet.

"We were very pleased with the win at Sandown, and he's come out of the race well," said the Lambourn-based trainer.

"He's got an entry for the Dewhurst and the Royal Lodge, so we'll basically keep moving forward and keep an open mind.

"He's progressing well, and we're pleased that he seems to have lots of scope to improve."
