Star fillies confirmed for Prince of Wales's Stakes
Star fillies Magical and Sea Of Class are the standout names declared for the Prince of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot on Wednesday.
The Group One feature will be contested by eight runners, with the Aidan O'Brien-trained Magical looking to maintain her impressive 2019 form as she has won all four of her races so far this calendar year, most recently in the Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh last month.
O'Brien, who also has possible pacemaker Hunting Horn entered in the race, will be hoping to taste success in Wednesday's contest for the fourth time, following on from the triumphs of Duke of Marmalade (2008), So You Think (2012) and Highland Reel (2017).
The William Haggas-trained Sea Of Class is expected to go head-to-head with Magical although she will be making her first appearance since narrowly finishing second to Enable in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe last October.
Sir Michael Stoute's Crystal Ocean, who won at Royal Ascot in last year's Hardwicke Stakes, is also entered in the race, while the line-up is completed by Waldgeist, Deirdre, Desert Encounter and Zabeel Prince.
Tom McGarry completed his sports journalist degree in 2011,and has since has become an integral part of the editorial and audio team. He is passionate about all things sport, particularly football, and is a lifelong supporter of his hometown club Carlisle United.
