Colombia recall a major goal - Morelos

11th February 2019, 12:25 by James Mason

Rangers star Alfredo Morelos says he is hoping to catch the eye of new Colombia boss Carlos Queiroz.

With Queiroz ending his eight-year stint as Iran boss following the conclusion of the 2019 Asian Cup, the Portuguese tactician was appointed Colombia boss last week and became just the fourth European to take charge of the South American outfit.

The 65-year-old is currently doing due diligence on his options for the national side and one player that could be in the reckoning is Morelos, who has scored 23 goals in all competitions for the Gers this season.

Morelos' attitude has been questioned this term, with the striker seeing red four times, but he is hoping a glowing report from Steven Gerrard could earn him a second cap for Colombia.

In an interview with radio station Caracol Radio, he said: "I dream every day of playing in the Copa America this year. Everyone knows that Carlos Queiroz is a very good manager and with the Copa America in Brazil this year, I want to do everything possible to get his attention.

"Hopefully, he will get in touch with my manager Steven Gerrard."
