No Messi issues for Barca boss

15th April 2019, 18:16 by Gareth Freeman

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde says Lionel Messi is fully fit ahead of the Champions League visit of Manchester United on Tuesday.

Messi received a blow to the face in Barca's 1-0 first-leg win at Old Trafford last week following a strong challenge from United defender Chris Smalling.

Valverde has since confirmed Messi was badly bruised in the incident and the Argentine wasn't involved in the 0-0 draw with Huesca at the weekend, but he will be back in the team for Tuesday's European clash.

"He is perfectly fine," Valverde told reporters. "He was already fine after a couple of days. During the game, he was a little dazed, but there is no problem for tomorrow."
