Hildeberto Pereira joins Northampton on loan

13th January 2018, 15:01

Northampton have announced the signing of winger Hildeberto Pereira on loan from Legia Warsaw until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old Portuguese is returning to English football after being on loan at Nottingham Forest last season from Benfica, a spell during which he made 25 appearances and scored two goals.

Northampton boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink said on the club's official website: "I have come up against Hildeberto a number of times and have been very impressed. I think he will be a big asset to us.

"He is full of pace and energy, he can take players on and he will offer us natural width, creativity and a spark.

"He is lively, unpredictable and he can have the fans on the edge of their seats and I am looking forward to working with him.

"He has the potential to be a real crowd favourite and I am very excited to be able to welcome him to Sixfields."

The Cobblers also confirmed midfielder Lewis McGugan and defender Ryan McGivern are leaving the club.

Both arrived earlier this season on short-term contracts running to this month that Northampton have decided not to extend.
