Burnley v Wolverhampton Wanderers

29th March 2019, 15:35 by Bobbie Jackson

Burnley will attempt to boost their survival hopes on Saturday when they welcome Wolves to Turf Moor.

The Clarets started 2019 in style - they enjoyed an eight-game unbeaten run - but performances have dropped off over recent weeks.

Four defeats in a row have left them sitting just one place and two points clear of the relegation zone with seven games left to play.

Of course, survival is still in their hands but they need to get back on track sooner rather than later to avoid handing the advantage to Cardiff.

Saturday’s clash with Wolves is certain to prove tough but Sean Dyche doesn’t have too many injury concerns.

The majority of his internationals returned from their commitments unscathed although Johann Berg Gudmundsson is a doubt due to a calf injury sustained playing for Iceland.

Midfield pair Aaron Lennon and Steven Defour will miss out once again as they continue to spend time in the treatment room.

The trip to Turf Moor signals the start of a busy eight days for Wolves as they look to hold on to seventh place.

Wolves’ clash with Burnley is followed by a home meeting against Manchester United on Tuesday before taking on Watford in the FA Cup semi-finals the following Sunday.

Fortunately, Nuno Espirito Santo has no fresh injury concerns and he can name almost a full-strength XI in Lancashire.

Defender Ryan Bennett is the only absentee as he completes a two-game ban after picking up his 10th yellow card of the season against Cardiff.

Wolves have won seven successive top-flight meetings with Burnley, including all three in the Premier League.
