Everton v Chelsea

15th March 2019, 19:51 by James Mason

Everton face a difficult challenge on Sunday when they welcome Chelsea to Goodison Park on Sunday for Premier League action.

Everton gave up a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 at Newcastle United last time out and the Toffees have picked up just one win from their last six league matches, increasing the pressure on manager Marco Silva.

The Merseysiders, who are on a three-game winless run at home, have slipped to 11th in the standings and reports are already suggesting the Portuguese tactician could be given the boot this summer.

Seamus Coleman is set to return after missing the defeat at St James' Park because of illness while left-back Leighton Baines is also in contention after a back issue.

English centre-back Phil Jagielka, whose contract expires in the summer, is an injury doubt while Frenchman defender Kurt Zouma is ineligible against his parent club.

Chelsea arrive at Goodison Park on the back of a 5-0 thumping of Dynamo Kiev in the Europa League on Thursday and the Blues are on a five-game unbeaten run in all competitions.

Maurizio Sarri's men have won their last three away games and another three points could see them jump into fourth position, although they would have to win by five clear goals to overhaul Arsenal.

Argentinian striker Gonzalo Higuain did not travel for the European tie on Thursday due to illness and faces competition to regain his starting spot following Olivier Giroud's hat-trick in Ukraine.

Cesar Azpilicueta, David Luiz, Jorginho and Eden Hazard all expected to be recalled to the starting line-up.
