Manchester United v Paris Saint Germain

11th February 2019, 13:52 by Tom McGarry

Manchester United will be looking to take advantage of Paris Saint-Germain's injury troubles when the teams meet on Tuesday.

United would have been dreading this fixture when the draw for the last-16 stage of the Champions League was made in December, but a lot has changed for the sides since then.

The Red Devils will head into this week's first leg at Old Trafford having won 10 and drawn one of their 11 games since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer succeeded Jose Mourinho as interim manager and they look a different team to the one that limped through the group stage.

Solskjaer was even able to rest players like Marcus Rashford during Saturday's 3-0 win over Fulham in the Premier League and the Norwegian was also able to wrap the likes of Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial up in cotton wool during the match.

PSG's preparations for the contest have gone a lot less smoothly, with Edinson Cavani joining Neymar in being ruled out of the first match after he suffered a hip injury during their Ligue 1 victory over Bordeaux on Saturday.

Cavani could return for next month's second leg, although Neymar will not feature in the tie at all after breaking his metatarsal against Strasbourg in January.

Thomas Meunier will also miss Tuesday's match due to concussion although Kylian Mbappe is available, while Marco Verratti should be fit following his recent return from an ankle issue.

This will be the first time the clubs have met in the Champions League, although PSG did claim a 2-0 win when they last went head-to-head in an International Champions Cup friendly match back in 2015.
