Southampton v Wolverhampton Wanderers

12th April 2019, 17:42 by Jack Ogalbe

Southampton will hope Wolves are still suffering from their post-Wembley blues when the pair meet at St Mary's on Saturday.

Nuno Espirito Santo's men were 2-0 up in their FA Cup semi-final against Watford but faltered to a 3-2 defeat and may still be picking themselves up.

Saints lost 3-1 to Liverpool last weekend but played well and while they sit 17th in the standings, they are five points clear of the relegation places and will be aiming for a fourth victory in six outings in this one.

They will also be boosted by the return of Danny Ings after he was ineligible to face the Reds, while Ralph Hasenhuttl could stick to a back three after the encouraging display last time out.

Wolves will likely recall Rui Patricio for John Ruddy between the sticks, while Ryan Bennett may also be recalled after being replaced by Romain Saiss for the cup tie.

Santo will hope his side have regained their edge as they aim to finish seventh although Saints have home advantage and will look to make it count.

With winnable home games against Bournemouth and Huddersfield before the end of the season, Hasenhuttl is staying relaxed but will want his side to secure their top-flight status sooner rather than later.
