West Ham United v Arsenal

11th January 2019, 14:12 by James Mason

West Ham United face a tricky clash on Saturday when they welcome Arsenal to the London Stadium for Premier League action.

The Hammers have failed to win their last two league outings although they did bounce back to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over Birmingham City in the FA Cup.

Manuel Pellegrini’s men are sitting 10th in the table heading into the contest and a victory would lift the club into eighth, level on points with seventh-place Leicester City who host Southampton later in the day.

Former France international Samir Nasri is set to be named in the matchday squad to face his former employers, who brought him to England a decade ago from Marseille.

Austrian Marko Arnautovic, who has been linked with a January move to China, has recovered from the knock he picked up in the FA Cup win whilst Andy Carroll is also in line to feature.

Pellegrini is without the services of Fabian Balbuena, Winston Reid, Manuel Lanzini, Carlos Sanchez, Jack Wilshere, Andriy Yarmolenko, Ryan Fredericks and Javier Hernandez.

Arsenal arrive at the London Stadium on a two-game winning run, having beaten Fulham and Blackpool, and another three points would move them level with Chelsea in fourth.

The Gunners have struggled on the road in recent weeks and they have failed to win any of their last four away matches in the Premier League, losing twice and drawing twice.

Unai Emery is set to have defensive trio Shkodran Mustafi, Nacho Monreal and Hector Bellerin available, whilst Laurent Koscielny is set to feature after overcoming a back spasm he picked up in the warm-up against Blackpool.

Ex-German international Mesut Ozil is back training and could be available, but Danny Welbeck and Rob Holding are still long-term absentees.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Konstantinos Mavropanos have been back training for the past 10 days and they are set to be involved with the Under-23s over the coming days.
