West Ham United v Huddersfield Town

15th March 2019, 16:04 by Warren Ashurst

Manuel Pellegrini has warned his West Ham team that they will need to be at their best to beat Huddersfield at the London Stadium.

The Premier League's bottom club head to the capital with just one away win this season and are now 16 points from safety, after back-to-back defeats against Brighton and Bournemouth.

But West Ham have been inconsistent of late, recording two wins, two defeats and one draw in their last five games, and Pellegrini is mindful of the threat the visitors pose with Jan Siewert's men having nothing to lose.

Pellegrini has been hit by the news this week that Andy Carroll could miss the last eight games of the season, due to an ankle injury, but Marko Arnautovic is pushing for a start after recovering from illness.

The Hammers boss also has a decision to make at the back, with Fabian Balbuena an option having been back on the bench in last weekend's defeat at Cardiff and will be pushing Angelo Ogbonna for a starting berth.

Huddersfield continue to be hampered by injury problems, with Erik Durm the latest concern. The German defender will undergo a fitness test on a minor strain he picked up in training.

The likes of Jonathon Hogg, Adama Diakhaby, Laurent Depoitre and Danny Williams remain sidelined, but Siewert does have Tommy Smith back available after serving his three-match suspension.

The reverse fixture finished 1-1 back in November, while West Ham did the double over Huddersfield last season which included a 2-0 win at the London Stadium, thanks to goals from Pedro Obiang and Andre Ayew.
