Southampton 3-1 Wolverhampton Wanderers
Southampton took a big step towards Premier League safety after a 3-1 victory against Wolves on Saturday.
The Saints got themselves off to a perfect start at St Mary’s as Joshua Sims burst down the right flank before playing a pinpoint cross to Nathan Redmond, who slotted the ball home after just two minutes.
Wolves did not have to work too hard for their equaliser on 28 minutes as Joao Moutinho’s corner found Willy Boly, who rose up well to head home.
The scores were only level for a couple of minutes as Redmond struck with his second goal of the game.
Danny Ings picked up the ball outside of the box and threaded a perfect ball into the path of Redmond, who then clipped the ball past the on-rushing Rui Patricio.
Shane Long managed to wrap up the three points in the 71st minute when he took a pass well inside the box before making room to slot the ball into the bottom corner.
