British Fencing

Dmitry Leus - The crucial trait I have learned from sports is concentration in a critical situation, take all the power and fight

On April 19, the European U23 Fencing Championships 2018 finished. British fencers represented their country at a good level, even though this time they did not take prize-places. Elisabeth Powell took 24th place in the U-23 Women's Épée ranking; Mhairi Mclaughlin took 29th place in the U-23 Women's Foil rating, Alexander Lloyd took- 44th place in the U-23 Men's Foil ranking

Dmitry Leus, founder and CEO of Imperium Investments said: “I’m a big supporter of fencing and wanted to support the British National Team. I spend a lot of time in fencing clubs and I see how these guys fence. I see their passion for sports, the desire for victory. I am sure that in a year, a year and a half, Lizzie, Alex and Mhairi will become strong rivals at all fencing tournaments in Europe. A defeat is another reason to continue diligent work on yourself. The main thing in sports is the number of attempts. We must continue to try and even if it did not work, then keep going and do not give up.”

Dmitry Leus continued: “Imperium Investments company three athletes on their trip to Armenia for this tournament. We are delighted to offer financial support to these athletes to allow them concentrate totally on their training process and to show their best results in the competition. They must think only about victory.”

Georgina Usher, the CEО of British Fencing said: “I’d like to thank Imperium Investments for the support they have provided through the BF Charity to support our team. As an unfunded performance sport, donations like these are critical to help our athletes as they seek to represent GB at the highest level.”

In addition, Dmitry Leus founded an initiative in Brixton to provide free fencing lessons for children from low-income families. Having gone through a difficult life path on his own and then having raised and brought up 4 children, Dmitry believes there are two very important factors in childhood: support from adults and the opportunity to test themselves in a variety of sports and sciences.

"This is how the character is formed. Not all children, unfortunately, have this opportunity. And if I can help even one child - it's already a success," said Dmitry.
