Arsenal star is on Inter's wanted list - report

12th April 2019, 13:43 by Simon Barlow

Inter Milan are considering a swoop for Arsenal's Granit Xhaka, who recently admitted he was ready for the "next step" in his career.

Calciomercato claim Xhaka has made it on to the Nerazzurri's four-player list of potential summer midfield recruits, alongside Barcelona's Ivan Rakitic, Lyon's Tanguy Ndombele and Cagliari's Nicolo Barella.

Arsenal are thought to be very keen on Barella themselves as they look to replace Turin-bound Aaron Ramsey, but any move for Xhaka is unlikely to be welcomed by the Gunners.

In March, Xhaka suggested he could leave the Emirates Stadium in order to achieve his career goals.

The 26-year-old, who has arguably had his best season in England since moving to the Gunners from Borussia Monchengladbach in May 2016 for £35m, told Tagblatt: "I'm very ambitious, I want to take the next step, Arsenal does not have to be the last stop."

Calciomercato state that Inter's interest is just that for the time being although they could pursue a move for the Swiss international if given any encouragement.
