Arsenal striker linked with Toffees
Everton are lining up a swoop for Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck, who will be available on a free transfer in the summer, reports claim.
The former Manchester United star has been dogged by injury problems during his time at the Emirates Stadium, and is currently battling back from a serious ankle problem that he picked up back in November.
There is a big question mark over his future at the club as he is out of contract in the summer and it remains to be seen whether he will be offered a new one, as a number of rival clubs wait in the wings.
Welbeck could make a return to action this season and it would appear the Gunners are holding fire for now to see if the striker has made a full recovery and is worthy of a new deal.
Boss Unai Emery has refused to dismiss the possibility of Welbeck penning a new deal, but there is every chance he could move on, with Everton said to be leading the queue for his services.
Toffees boss Marco Silva is in the market for at least one new forward this summer, and the fact Welbeck can play anywhere along the frontline, and could be available at a bargain price, makes him an appealing prospect if he stays fit.
