Arsenal target's departure likely says agent

29th March 2019, 12:54 by Simon Barlow

Arsenal have been put on red alert after the agent of reported target Nicolas Tagliafico confirmed Ajax will sell him this summer.

The Argentina left-back's displays in the Champions League this season have brought him to the attention of several top clubs, with Atletico Madrid and Roma also understood to be among his admirers.

Arsenal will be looking to upgrade their defence this summer and are sure to be interested in the words of agent Ricardo Schlieper, who has confirmed his client is ready to "take the leap" at the end of this season.

"The Champions League has given Nicolas a profile which has caught the attention of many teams," Schlieper told Muy Independiente.

"He is on the list of big clubs who can pay what Ajax want. Now he is a coveted footballer and it will depend on negotiations.

"We haven't talked numbers with Ajax, but they are going to ask for a big sum. I think it will be more than 20million euros (£17m).

"Ajax made an offer to match what the teams who want Nicolas could pay but he didn't accept because it is the right time to take the leap. We'll see what happens in the window."
