Arsenal watch AC Milan man
Arsenal have reportedly sent scouts to watch AC Milan star Suso, with their attempts to sign Lille’s Nicolas Pepe hitting the buffers.
The Gunners are keen to bolster their attacking midfield ranks for next season with the departure of Aaron Ramsey to Juventus on a free transfer confirmed, while there is doubt over the future of German Mesut Ozil.
Suso came through the ranks at Liverpool but could never establish himself fully under then-manager Brendan Rodgers and was allowed to leave on a free transfer to the San Siro in 2015.
Since then, he has become a key player in Gennaro Gattuso’s side and made his debut for Spain in 2015.
Arsenal have had to look to Suso because a deal to try and sign their first-choice target Nicolas Pepe is looking increasingly unlikely.
The Ivorian winger’s displays in Ligue 1 have alerted a number of clubs around Europe but it is understood that Bayern Munich are the favourites to sign him for a fee thought to be in the region of 60million euros.
Suso has a release clause fee of 40million euros at the Rossoneri so the Gunners may look to pursue that deal if Pepe chooses to sign for Bayern.
