Barca ace linked to Gunners

9th April 2019, 05:33 by Michael Holland

Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti appears to be an Arsenal target after boss Unai Emery confirmed his interest in the player.

Emery is keen to bring in a new defender in the summer, and Umtiti has emerged as a possible target after his slipped out of favour at the Nou Camp this season.

There is a good chance the France international will be out of Arsenal's price range, even if he was allowed to leave, but Emery is clearly a big fan and would like to have him on board.

"He [Umtiti] is a good player, France has some very good players and the French market is quite attractive for many clubs," Emery told RMC Sport.

"I always had French players at my clubs, Valencia, Sevilla, PSG and now, here at Arsenal. I could always count on those players."

The fact Umtiti still has over four years remaining on his current contract means Barca can demand what they want, which is likely to price the Gunners out of a move.
