Gunners transfer target heads elsewhere
Arsenal appear to have missed out on signing Yacine Brahimi, who is on the verge of joining Qatari side Al-Rayyan.
The 29-year-old, who was part of the Algeria squad that won this summer's Africa Cup of Nations, had been a free agent after leaving Portuguese giants Porto at the end of last season.
The Gunners were strongly linked with making a move for the former Granada player earlier in the transfer window, although it is believed the two parties were unable to agree terms.
Arsenal have since turned their attention to signing Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha, but any hopes they harboured of making a move for Brahimi now appear to have been dashed, as Al Rayyan have confirmed he has passed a medical and is poised to move to the Qatar Stars League.
Unai Emery's need to sign a winger could intensify further, with reports also suggesting Bundesliga club Hertha Berlin want to sign Gunners youngster Reiss Nelson on loan.
Nelson enjoyed a similar spell with Hoffenheim in Germany last season and he could be tempted by another temporary move away from the Emirates Stadium if he feels his first-team opportunities are going to be restricted.
