Gunners turn down Bennacer offer
Arsenal are believed to have rejected the chance to bring former midfielder Ismael Bennacer back from Empoli this summer.
Algeria international Bennacer, who is preparing to face Senegal in Friday's Africa Cup of Nations final, made just one senior appearance for Arsenal during a disappointing two-year spell from 2015-2017.
The 21-year-old left the Emirates to join Empoli and he has been in magnificent form ever since, making 39 Serie B performances during his debut campaign to help the club earn promotion to Italy's top flight.
Last season, the midfielder featured 37 times in the league but he was unable to stop Gli Azzurri from suffering relegation, which has left huge doubts about his future at Stadio Carlo Castellani.
Reports are suggesting AC Milan have made a £14.4million offer for Bennacer, which has been accepted, and negotiations are expected to kick on following the conclusion of AFCON.
Arsenal did have the chance to match that bid and re-sign the Algerian, but Unai Emery is not interested in taking up that option and has turned down the opportunity to bring the midfielder back to London.
