Gunners turn to Malcom

27th January 2019, 05:30 by Michael Holland

Arsenal have switched targets to Barcelona forward Malcom as attempts to land team-mate Denis Suarez continue to stall.

The Gunners have been chasing Suarez for some time, but it looks as though the chances of getting a deal over the line before Thursday's deadline are dead.

However it is claimed that during the discussion over a potential deal for Suarez, Malcom's name also cropped up, and the former Bordeaux man is now an option.

Malcom has struggled to play regular first-team football with Barca since making the switch in the summer and he is keen to move on before the window closes.

Barca are also happy for him to move on and there is a good chance the deal could get done before the deadline passes.

The Gunners would face competition for his signature though as Italian giants AC Milan are also said to be interested in taking him on loan for the rest of the season.

It is also claimed that Barcelona would want £50million if they were to consider selling on a permanent basis.
