Lacazette facing spell on the sidelines

13th February 2018, 14:36 by James Mason

Arsenal could be without Alexandre Lacazette for six weeks after the club confirmed the striker has picked up a knee injury.

The France international came on as a substitute in last Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, missing a great chance to take a share of the spoils, and it has now been confirmed he has been struck down with a knee problem.

Having identified the issue, the 26-year-old, who has scored nine Premier League goals this season, had an arthroscopy on his left knee in London on Tuesday morning.

Arsenal have confirmed the minor procedure was a success and he will now undergo a period of rehabilitation, with the striker expected to be out of action from four to six weeks.

Lacazette's injury means Danny Welbeck is the only recognised senior striker for the Europa League matches at the moment as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was registered with Borussia Dortmund before his January move to the Emirates.
