Madrid line up Aubameyang offer

13th April 2019, 13:31 by James Mason

Real Madrid are plotting a summer move for Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, reports claim.

Gabon international Aubameyang arrived at the Emirates in January 2018 from Borussia Dortmund for a club-record £56million and he has proven to be a great acquisition, scoring 27 goals from 44 Premier League appearances.

However, the 29-year-old has been in-and-out of the starting XI in recent months, rotating with Alexandre Lacazette, and there are reports claiming the Laval-born star is becoming frustrated at the limited opportunities.

Spanish giants Madrid are expected to undergo a major overhaul of the squad this summer following the recent return of Zinedine Zidane as manager and the Arsenal forward is said to be a transfer target.

Aubameyang, who is eager to play Champions League football, has just over two years left on his current contract and Los Blancos are said to be readying an offer around the £50m mark, having previously tried to sign him from Borussia Dortmund.

The Gunners, who are battling for a top-four finish this season, will fight hard to keep hold of one of their star men as manager Unai Emery looks to strengthen his squad in the summer window.
