Vorslka unsure on moved Arsenal encounter

28th November 2018, 16:54 by Chris Rivers

Ukrainian club Vorskla Poltava say they are unable to guarantee that Thursday's Europa League game with Arsenal will go ahead.

The Gunners set off for Kiev on Wednesday and will remain in the Ukrainian capital after the decision was made to move the game away from the city of Poltava due to security concerns.

Ukraine's parliament voted to implement 30 days of martial law at the start of the week, amid rising tensions with Russia, and Thursday's clash being switched to Kiev's Olympic Stadium is collateral damage.

Arsenal have spent Wednesday contacting the estimated 500 supporters set to travel to Ukraine about the change in venue, but Vorskla have now muddied the waters as to whether the fixture will take place.

Vorskla’s vice-president Oleh Lysak says they have yet to receive confirmation the game will be held at the Olympic Stadium and they are still keen to play the game in Poltava, which is one area where martial law has not been declared.
