Manager happy with summer business

16th July 2019, 09:43 by Daniel McCarthy

Aston Villa manager Dean Smith says he is very happy with the business conducted so far but says more can be done.

After sealing promotion via the play-offs in May, Villa have been heavy spenders with seven players being brought in.

Their outgoings have totalled around £100million so far and they have already broken their transfer record to sign Club Brugge forward Wesley Moraes.

Jota, Anwar El Ghazi, Matt Targett, Kortney Hause, Tyrone Mings and Ezri Konsa have all signed on the dotted line, while Douglas Luiz and Bjorn Engels are on the verge of agreeing deals.

Smith says he is still not finished despite being very satisfied with the club's dealings so far.

He said: "I believe our business has been very good. We've got a number of our targets in early. That was important to me. I wanted as many as we got get travelling over here to America with us on the tour.

"That's because the players learn so much more about each other being in close proximity. In a short amount of time we've got some really good work done. But we need to do a bit more."
