Bournemouth v Everton Team News

13th September 2019, 17:49 by Gareth Freeman

Bournemouth midfielder Lewis Cook could be in line for his first appearance since December when Everton visit on Sunday.

Cook is now back in training after a serious knee injury and Cherries boss Eddie Howe will make a late decision on whether he can return to action this weekend. Charlie Daniels is out for the season and fellow left-back Lloyd Kelly is also unavailable.

Kelly, a summer buy from Bristol City, picked up an ankle injury in pre-season and has returned to training although Sunday’s game will come too soon for the England Under-21 international.

Simon Francis is also back in training after a knee injury but is also not yet ready for a return to competitive action. David Brooks and Junior Stanislas remain sidelined, while Adam Smith and Chris Mepham are rated as doubts.

Everton were held to a 2-2 draw at Bournemouth last season after taking a 2-0 lead and boss Marco Silva is hoping his side can claim all three points this weekend.

“Our last away game against Bournemouth was an entertaining one, even if I didn’t like the end,” he told reporters. “I hope it will be entertaining again, but with a good result and if possible a clean sheet for us.”

The visitors will be without summer signing Jean-Philippe Gbamin as the midfielder has a thigh injury.

Back-up goalkeeper Jonas Lossl is closing in on a return but Sunday’s game is likely to come too soon for him to make the matchday squad.

Everton go into the game seeking a first away league win of the season after a draw at Crystal Palace and a defeat at Aston Villa.

The Cherries have four points from as many games so far and have picked up one point from two games at home.
