Cherries pushing to secure Bees star
Bournemouth are believed to be locked in negotiations with Brentford over a deal for defender Chris Mepham this month.
There has been plenty of speculation regarding the 21-year-old centre-back, who was left out of the Bees squad for Saturday's victory over Rotherham in the Championship.
It's thought that discussions are ongoing between the two clubs, with the Cherries eager to bring the promising youngster from Griffin Park to the Vitality Stadium.
Brentford head coach Thomas Frank has admitted there is talk about Mepham leaving the Bees and with all the distraction he decided to leave the defender out of the encounter with the Millers.
Frank said: "We know there are a lot of rumours about Chris Mepham.
"In the last game, he was on the bench because he could not get in the starting XI, because Yoann (Barbet), Julian (Jeanvier) and Ezri (Konsa) have done brilliantly.
"In this game, there have been too many rumours and too much to think about, so we decided to leave him out of the squad."
