Howe can’t wait to get going

2nd July 2019, 18:22 by Dan McCarthy

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe says he is glad to be back for pre-season and is looking forward to what his players can produce.

The Cherries are set to compete in their fifth straight Premier League campaign.

They have never in any real danger of relegation in that time and are expected to progress again this season.

So far, they have only brought in one new signing in defender Lloyd Kelly from Bristol City for a fee of around £13million.

Despite waiting for some players to return back from extended breaks after being on international duty. Howe is still glad to be back on the training ground.

He told the afcbTV: "We are excited by what the team can be this season. We have a lot of work to do on all phases – recruitment and on the training ground but it's exciting times ahead.

"I love pre-season because it's where you work as a coach. You are on the training pitch and you're not defined by the results you get.

"You are building towards the first game, so it's an exciting process."
